The thali

The "thali" is something precious for all religions. There are lots of designs for Thali according to the caste and generations. The Thali is in gold but before the marriage, the chain is in thread with turmeric and after that they'll change it in gold. In the marriage, the groom put the Thali in the bride's neck and they get married. After the marriage, the bride shouldn't remove the chain.
If she remove the chain, it means that her husband has died.
But now, it's not like that, if you don't want to wear it, they can remove it.

Antony and Cleopatra

I read “Antony and Cleopatra”, this is one of Shakespeare's play. This love story is between Antony and Cleopatra.

Antony married Cleopatra and stayed in Egypt. Antony is one of the three heads of Rome. The other two heads get angry with Antony. After few times, another country attacked Rome, and they lost one part of Rome. Antony came back to Rome because his family died in the battle. And three heads attacked that country and they won. Cleopatra wants to kill herself, at this time her servant send a message to Cleopatra that she went to kill herself. Antony died when he returned to his country. But Cleopatra didn’t want to die so she came back. When she saw Antony's body, she wanted to die so she put the poisoned snake on her body. And they both died. I don’t love it because at the end it finfished sadly. But it is a good love story.

The Groom

Who's the Groom?

A bridegroom is a man who will be married or a man who is already married.

In India, a groom is always followed by his friends. A bridegroom wears the dress which suits the ceremony. In Hindu ceremony, the groom wears  light colored jackets with a turban.

The family of the groom arranged the reception like a grand party, the friends and the associates are mainly from the groom side in this ceremony.

The ring ceremony

In India, the ring ceremony is an important one. The bride and the groom both have to make each other wear a ring just to show they are definetly taken!! =) Sometimes, the families play tricks to the newly marieds. Once, I attended a wedding in which the famillies had hidden the rings in a big plate full of yogur and (eatable) rose petals. The lovers had to eat all the yogurt to find the rings.

It is a checky saree made with gold threads.
And the  groom has to wear a silk dhoti with a white dress.
The relatives have to put a gold coin which is attached by a yellow thread on the forehead of the bride and the groom. The couple has to wear a flower garland.

Love or Arranged marriage?

There are two types of marriage in India: love marriage, and arranged marriage. The love marriage is when a couple love each other but marry without the blessing of the parents.
The arranged marriage is very traditionnal, the parents chose the couple.
The photo on the left is the marriage of Two popular actors in koolywood (south India). It is an arranged marriage.
There are more love marriage than arranged marriage. 75% of love marriage that finish in divore.
But arranged marriage finish by love.

Ceremony of marriage in india

In South India the ceremony of mariage is called the reception. In India the reception is a very big ceremony, the reception is during the night after the mariage, it's situated in a very beautiful big hall with full of decorations .

In the reception, the bride has to wear a beautiful saree which is very beautiful often red; with nice designs, the groom has to wear a nice white penjabi .

During the reception the friends and the family of the groom and the bride give prizes and gifts to the marriage couple.

After that they go and eat , friends eat first .

Then the family and the married couple eat together.

The bride in India

In India, especially in the South, a bride is very well-dressed. During the marriage ceremony, she wears a silk "sari" an indian traditional dress, she has a lot of fresh flowers on her hair and she also wears many gold jewels like necklace, bangles,earrings...(look at the photo), that day, she is the most beautiful and she looks like a princess. Her family has to give dowry to the groom's family so that she's respected by her parents- in- law.During the celebration, the groom puts one gold chain called "tali" on the bride's neck, symbol of the wedding ring in Europe and she has to keep it till her husband is alive. The groom also puts a silver ring on her toe called "metti".

Once the marriage is celebrated, the couple is united for eternity and the bride has to leave her parents and to live with the groom.

The dowry

The dowry means that the bride's family should give some money, jewels or a car, bike... to the groom's family. They can give useful things like a cupboard, bed...etc or they can provide a land or house;

but the groom's family can stop the wedding if they don't get the dowry. Sometimes, the groom's family doesn't ask for the dowry but if the bride's family is very rich, they give the dowry; if the family is not very rich they give just a necklace or something else.
After the marriage, the couple can build a house if they have had a land as dowry, otherwise they can use the things they have received as a dowry.

They can do whatever they whant with those they have received as a dowry, but generelly the bride keeps it in memory of her family!

Julius Caesar

This is a wonderful story for me but the play was very long. In this story, there are four main characters like Julius Caesar, Brutus, Mark Antony, Cassius. The play is a bit difficult to read for me because thre are a lot of new words. I love this story because it's a tragedy and the story was so different from roman history and I recommend this book for every one to know more about revenge.

Much ado about nothing!!!

I have read Much Ado About Nothing. It's a play written by WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE. It's a comedy. I love the end of this story because Benedick and Beatrice get married. Leonato is the father of beatrice. The story takes place in a countryside. The story was a bit difficult to understand because there are too many new words for me. I love this story because this is an comedy and tragedy. I recommend it for boys.
