We have finished our discussion of Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet and we also saw the 1968 Franco Zeffirelli film which the students really enjoyed. What are your thoughts on the play so far? Do you think that love at first sight is possible? Is this something that happens rarely or frequently in India?
As you read more of the play, we will be looking forward to your comments.
2011 is a year devoted to "love" for 3 euro students of Lycée Français de Pondichéry. Students from Greece and Germany have accepted to join them on this great adventure. But first 3 euro will study Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Juliet" with their teacher in class. Then only will they present the different aspects of love in India. Of course, in return they hope to learn more about love in Greece and Love in Germany.

The Merchant of Venice
This is a play of Shakespeare . The Merchant of Venice is a comedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written between 1596 and 1598. I don’t like my book because it’s a comedy and a love story and there are lots of confusions with the characters. And it's a bit difficult to understand a play by William Shakespear.

Twelfth Night
This is one of Shakespeare 's plays and it's a comedy story.
Someone good in English can easily understand the situation of this story, but someone who isn't, can't understand it because I think this story is very complicated and there is much confusion, I don't like this story because there are too many characters.
I recommend this story more for girls than boys.
Macbeth
Macbeth is of course one of Shakespeare's play and it's a tragedy play. It's the story of a brave Scottish general who wanted to become the king of Scotland, because it was the third prediction of the three witches he met in coincidence and the first 2 predictions had become true. So, for that, he killed the king and he became the King. But at the end, he was defeated and killed by the dead king's son. I liked this play, because it's a little scary, with witches, spirits... And I enjoyed a lot Macbeth's character, because he's always so proud of himself. I mostly recommend it for boys rather than girls, because most girls don't like ghosts and tragedy stories at all.

Anthony and Cleopatra
Anthony and Cleopatra
"Anthony and Cleopatra" is a tragedy ( but also a history ) written by William Shakespeare.
It takes place around the 50ths before J.C. .
The play is about a love story between the Egyptian queen, Cleopatra, and a roman general, Anthony. After a small fight between both of them, Cleopatra, out of revenge, locks herself up in a tower and sends her servants to tell her lover she killed herself. When Anthony hears about that, he immediatly kills himself to reach his love again. So the servant goes back to Cleopatra and tells his queen about Anthony's suicide. Cleopatra is broken down with regret and kills herself to punish her horrible mistake.
Both of them get burried next to eachother and nothing can harm their love anymore.
I did like this play because i'm interested in anything related to ancient Egypt! But still, I think There are too many suicides ( real and fake ones too!! )

Henry V
I have read Henry V. It's a play written by WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE. It's a history. I love the end of this story because Henry the king of England wants to start a war. The archbishop and the bishop told Henry to conquer France to distract them from paying the bill(tax) of their church so they told him to conquer France and finally Henry stops the war and says he wants peace between England and France and in the final part he married the French king's cousin.
