THANE CYCLONE


Thane cyclone is the very severe cyclonic storm that crossed Tamil Nadu and Pondcherry
On Friday morning. Throwing life off course, the storm, which passed the coast north of Cuddalore at 6.30am at a speed of more than 125 km an hour, uprooted trees and electric posts, disrupted power supply and transport services and damaged homes and standing crops. Twenty-six people were killed in Tamil Nadu and Seven in Pondichery. Besides, hundreds were rendered homeless and forced into relief camps set up by the governments.


Affected families receive food at a rehabilitation center.
Electricity was completely stopped there was no power for threes days in my house and the current is not yet come to the villages and the city completely surrendered to the dark. In pondichery, there are lots of current line was fall by the cyclone.


In pondichery, the streets remained eerily empty as thane moved away from Pondchery leaving a trail of destruction.
Trees, Traffic lights and shop signs lay scattered on every street in Friday.
People living near the beach were the worst affected and the windowpanes rattling.
Before the cyclone started, power went off and the noise got scary.
A part from damage to life and property, the cyclone has caused extensive damage to cash crop, particularly coconut and banana trees.
